Brazilian telecom firm TIM to develop 77 renewable energy plants

Brazilian telecom operator TIM is considering developing 77 renewable energy plants.

The company plans to power its operations within 2022, it said in a statement. Tim currently has 46 such plants spread across 19 states.

As per TIM, "100% of its energy is already attributable to clean generation sources. The company has 83% of its energy through renewable sources until last year, while the remaining belongs to the acquisition of renewable energy certificates.

The company informed that it has signed agreements with DG companies for new partnerships to reach a total of 77 plants for its own consumption by the end of 2022.

It has been reported that with the operation of new plants, TIM's plants will be spread across 24 states and in the Brasília federal district.

According to TIM, the 77 plants will be split between solar energy (65 plants), small hydro (7), biogas (3) and natural gas (2) facilities.

"These will be capable of generating 38.2GWh per month, which the telco says is enough to supply 19,000 antennas," a report mentioned.
