Germany awards over 1GW of capacity in latest solar auction




Germany has awarded over 1GW of capacity in latest solar auction.


The latest solar auction comprised a volume of 1084MW across 201 bids as per the results.


Under the tendered quantity of 1108MMW, altogether 209 bids with a volume of 116MW were submitted. "The award values determined in the bid price are between €0.04/kWh and €0.055/kWh," according to the authorities.


According to the Federal Network Agency, the successful bids of the technology-specific tenders for solar were released in the first segment while biomass plants on the bidding date of last month.


"The solar tender, which includes ground-mounted systems, with a deadline of 1 March was oversubscribed despite the significant increase in the tender volume," a report mentioned.


It has been reported that in the auction, the largest volume awarded is located in Bavaria with a capacity of 488MW spread across 106 bids.


This is followed by Rhineland-Palatinate with 223MW, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with 67MW and Saarland with 66MW.


Meanwhile, it has been reported that the next round of solar tenders will take place on 1 June 2022. For biomass projects, the tenders will take place on 1st September.
