Spain to develop 1200MW floating offshore wind farm

The Spanish government has started a consultation on development of a 1200MW floating offshore wind farm.

It has been informed that the farm will be built by Bluefloat and Sener Renewable Investments.

The project will be located 30km off the coast of A Coruna in north-west Spain.

According to the authorities, the "Nordes project would be built in two phases starting with an initial 525MW and adding 675MW later off the region of Galicia."

A report mentioned that the first phase would comprise 35 turbines, which will have a capacity of about 15MW each. Similarly, the second stage will have 45 machines.

The Nordes project is expected to deliver 4800 GWh of electricity annually when it comes into a full operation.
